Paris 2011
10/02/11 - 14/02/11
We visited Paris again.
On Thursday we got up early and travelled to Paris. After checking in at our hotel, we walked up to see the Grand Arch and took in the atmosphere as the sun went down. We had curry for dinner.
On Friday we visited the Louvre. It's a huge building filled with sculptures and paintings, which I found quite inspiring. We managed to see perhaps half of it. In the evening we headed over to the Magic venue to take part in the 'Super FNM' event. I made a cool deck and did pretty well - winning 3 out of my 4 rounds - and won a small prize. We had a late pizza dinner and went to bed.
Saturday was the day of the main Magic event, or 'GP'. We played a lot of games and had fun, but neither of us did very well. We found a Thai restaurant for dinner.
On our last full day, Sunday, Laura wanted to play in another Magic event. After queueing to get some of her cards signed by an artist, I decided instead to go to the Pompidou centre with James Clique. We saw an exhibition of Mondrain, which was interesting because they did a good job of explaining the thought processes behind some very abstract pieces of art. There was also entertainment outside, in the form of a knife juggling unicyclist, and what appeared to be a large group filming a scene for a pop video. We met up again later and went to a french restaurant.
On Monday we got up early to catch the trains back to England.
